Attila Kszel

Storyteller, actor and director

attila-kszel-ok.JPGHaving studied both the arts of acting and theatre directing in Hungary, Attila Kszel has been working as actor and director at the National Theatre of Győr for 15 years.
In 2000, he established the Studio of the National Theatre of Győr.

Among others, he directed Scapin by Molière (1998), Csizmás Kandúr by Tömöry-Korcsmáros (2002), 80 Days Around the Earth by Jules Verne (2003), wrote and directed Ludas Matyi (2004) and La Fontaine, or the Night of Miracles (2005), and finally directed Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh (2006).

Starting to work for the MUS-E programme in 2004, he leads a group of two classes in the industrial suburbs of Győr; he works, together with a wonderful teacher, with children from unprivileged families.

He started to use techniques from theatre and martial arts to deal with the lack of concentration and attention of the children.

“I could start making sessions of situation games and creative theatre exercises beyond the traditional ones from drama pedagogy. Our classes give us a lot of fun and joy and it seems that the positive changes in our group dynamism lead us to develop into a real community. Occasionally, I try to surprise them with something really unexpected. For example, I recently took them to the city stadium. Just to feel it and wonder…”, he explains.

In the frame of the iyouwe SHARE THE WORLD project, Attila Kszel participated in the artist training seminar that took place at Bük in Hungary, which was, according to him, a significant starting point thanks to its atmosphere and professional content.
